Feature Stories for 28 April include:

Coordination of Public Warning : CoMNET explains the importance of dissemination of public information associated a WMD incident.  Several public warning systems are available to the response community to reach the public in the event of an emergency.  CoMNET goes to an Emergency Operations Center to discuss coordination of public warning, instruction, and information updates.

Radio Interoperability – Part II:    Another in the series on interoperability communications, CoMNET discusses the ODP Interoperability Communications Technical Assistance Program (ICTAP).  Three cities are currently participating in the ICTAP; Miami, Kansas City, and Denver.  CoMNET visits these cities to discuss the different phases of ICTAP.

Direct Threat Assessment :  Prevention and deterrence can be instrumental in thwarting potential terrorist attacks.  One of the tools used in prevention and deterrence is a direct threat assessment.  CoMNET explains the direct threat assessment process and how ODP's Jurisdictional Handbook and Prevention and Deterrence Guidelines can be used as important resources in developing this useful tool.

Scene and Crowd Control Procedures : CoMNET provides information about how the fire service and HazMat teams can assist law enforcement agencies with scene and crowd control procedures at a WMD incident.  Frequently, law enforcement officers are not the first to arrive at the scene so it is important for first responders to have standard operating procedures that include scene and crowd control.
